The Dude Diet cookbook

The Dude Diet: Clean(ish) Food for People Who Like to Eat Dirty by Serena Wolf came into the library in January and I just found it this month. Serena is Logan’s girlfriend, a culinary instructor, food writer and private chef.  In an effort to help her dude lose weight and develop better eating habits Ms. Wolf has created a cookbook with over 125 healthy and delicious recipes.

My goal is to try one or two recipes from cookbooks before I buy them or make copies. I am always in search of chicken recipes especially when I can get a couple of meals out of it. I tried the Magic Faux-Tisserie Chicken on pg. 103. It includes a 3-4 pound chicken, cloves, smoked paprika, brown sugar, chili powder. That is the only hard work. The rest involves putting it in the oven and waiting for it to cook, which takes 3-4 hours depending on the size of the chicken. It cooks slowly and needs to be basted once in a while. The result is delicious.

The next recipe I tried was the  Crispy Fish Tacos with Mango-Avocado Salsa and Chipotle Crema, p.119. This recipe involves more prep but well worth the effort. I cut back on the heat by not adding the cayenne pepper or the seeds of the adobe pepper. Though my dudes would have enjoyed it as they like spicier food. Still a fairly easy to make and delicious recipe.  Whether your dude is 20 something or 60 something eating healthy needs to be a priority.  While the “dude” speak may grow old Ms. Wolf has shown that healthy eating does not mean bland food.
