One of the perks of working in a library is having a first look at new books. The Mediterranean Diet, which is more of a healthy eating plan than a diet has always interested me. Michael Psilakis’ book Live to Eat: Cooking the Mediterranean Way caught my eye. Michael Psilakis is a son of Greek immigrants, and a chef on “a mission to eat healthy without being on a “diet”. The Mediterranean diet is a healthy approach to eating which includes flavorful, satisfying food which is good for you. There are many delicious recipes which I am looking forward to trying – Sauteed chicken thighs with sweet and sour salsa, sweet and sour peppers and onions, traditional Greek salad and many more. Suggestions for variations of making the recipes and techniques are included. Nutritional information is not included which would have been helpful. Though it is definitively a healthier eating style.
