Thanksgiving Traditions

I try to eat healthy during the year and tweak some of my old favorites to make them healthier.  But for the Thanksgiving meal I still enjoy my food traditions, no matter how healthy they are.  This is one of the recipes my mom made that I enjoyed.

Thanksgiving Traditions

Ingredients
  • 1-1/2 cup ground fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 pkgs (3 oz.) each jello orange flavor
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1-1/2 cups cold water
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 orange peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup walnuts chopped coarse

  • 1-1/2 cup ground fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 pkgs (3 oz.) each jello orange flavor
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1-1/2 cups cold water
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 orange peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup walnuts chopped coarse
Instructions
  1. Chop fresh cranberries in food processor or chop by hand. Place cranberries in a small bowl and mix together with sugar.
  2. Dissolve gelatin and salt in boiling water. Add cold water, lemon juice, cinnamon and cloves. Chill until thickened.
  3. Fold in cranberries, chopped orange and walnuts. Mix together.
  4. Spoon into a 6-cup mold or glass serving dish.
  5. Chill until firm.
